North Country Conservancy has eight volunteer board members.
Chair - Frank J. Grimmelmann
Frank has served as Chair of the North Country Conservancy / Daisy Mountain Preservation Effort since December 2003. He lives in Anthem, Arizona and is very active in community issues. He is the President of the Arizona Infragard Board, member of the Maricopa Country Sheriff’s North Valley Posse, and remains active in supporting a number of Charities. Mr. Grimmelmann has also served as a senior executive, with proven experience in leading, managing, and advising enterprises, including healthcare, financial, investment banking, information technology, and general services companies, in positions including CEO, COO, CFO, and CIO.

Sara has served as President of the North Country Conservancy / Daisy Mountain Preservation Effort since December 2003. She is an attorney, licensed in Illinois, retired from Iowa, and residing in the Phoenix Area, doing tax and non-profit administration. She has a passionate interest in the environment and works with "green" groups and land preservation efforts. Sara also works with charities focused on helping folks who have or are losing homes, or need other assistance... food banks, tax help, and finding shelter. She’s involved in movements to broaden healthcare to all citizens. Her special interest is the preservation of open space and wildlife habitat in the Southwest, especially Arizona.
Executive Vice-President & Secretary -

Ann has served as Executive Vice-President & Secretary of the North Country Conservancy / Daisy Mountain Preservation Effort since December 2003. In 2009, she took on the added role of Executive Director for a 2 year commitment. Her special interest is the retaining quality of life through community land use planning that preserves open space, recreational opportunities, and wildlife habitat in the Southwest. Ann has work experience in the private sector, state government, and federal government as a performance improvement and quality consultant, trainer and program manager. As a resident of New River, she is involved in a number of community efforts such as the New River-Desert Hills Community Association, Certified Emergency Response Team, and Arizona Quality Alliance.
Treasurer -

Shareen has served as Treasurer of the North Country Conservancy / Daisy Mountain Preservation Effort since December 2003. Since 2002, she has continued to serve on the Board of Directors of the New River-Desert Hills Community Association and currently serves as its President. The NR/DHCA is an all-volunteer non-profit organization made up of residents from the local communities who support preserving the rural lifestyle by upholding the New River Area Plan (adopted 1999, Maricopa County 20/20 Comprehensive Land Use Plan). Her passions include nature, wildlife, conservation, and community based advocacy and activism. She currently works as a public accountant and bookkeeper in the New River home she and her husband, Joseph, share with their two teenage children, three horses, two dogs, a cat and assorted other critters. In addition to her work with NCC, Shareen is involved with additional non-profit and volunteer groups such as the Black Canyon Trail Coalition, the Arizona Equine Rescue Organization, the Boulder Creek High School Band Boosters, PTA, and more.
Legal Counsel –

Douglas (Doug) has served as Legal Counsel of the North Country Conservancy / Daisy Mountain Preservation Effort since December 2003. He lives in Anthem and works as an energy and environmental lawyer with years of experience in a variety of water and utility issues. He’s licensed in Arizona, Texas, California, and Washington, DC currently working as Counsel for Arizona Power Authority. He is also Attorney and Steering Committee Member for the Endangered Species Act Multi-Species Conservation Plan for the Lower Colorado River Basin. He served in the Carter Administration in the Department of Interior. Doug lives in Anthem.
Member - Terry Marron
Terry has served on the Advisory Group (Daisy Mountain Preservation Effort) for the past seven years and has been a Board member since November 2005. He also serves as Vice-President of the New River-Desert Hills Community Association, an organization dedicated to preserving the rural community. Terry has hunted and explored many of the wide open spaces of Arizona. As a cottage industry business owner of Anasazi Metal Works in Desert Hills and lifelong Arizona resident, Terry brings the expertise of a small business owner with his extensive knowledge and contacts of Arizona’s leaders.

Laine has served on the Board and the NCC Strategy Sub-Group since January 2009. She has immersed herself in community issues since she moved to the Phoenix area in 2005. Her passion for the environment and non-profits is evident in her work and volunteer services. She works as the Executive Director for Environmental Fund for Arizona (EFAZ) and volunteers as the Chair of AFP Communications Committee and Board member of Friends of Sonoran Desert National Monument. She assists organizations with fundraising, communications, PR, special events, and strategic planning.
Member - Jim Larson
Jim has served on the Board and the NCC Strategy Sub-Group since January 2009. With his business career of substantial depth and international experience, Jim brings expertise in real estate, computer software, and community leadership to NCC. Jim is currently a commissioner on the Phoenix Housing and Neighborhoods Commission and a member of the North Mountain Village Planning Committee where he works to insure Phoenix area residents have a voice in how land and property are developed. Jim is active in the Phoenix Neighborhood Patrol and CERT program to help promote community security and safety. Jim has served as President for 6 of the last 9 years of the Moon Valley Homeowners Association, a volunteer community association, which promotes community safety and protecting property values of over 29 subdivisions. As a resident of Moon Valley in Phoenix, he has proven his dedication to maintaining neighborhood stability, education, and smart-growth principles. |
